Real Madrid tie Atletico Madrid

Keylor Navas was the hero in the Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid. The game ended in a 1-1 draw but the reality is, it could have been worse. Navas saved a penalty kick and soon after watched a ball go in from the young Argentine Luciano Vietto that would negate karim Benzemas earlier score.

Navas continues to establish himself as La Liga’s keeper to beat and starts making David Degea’s failed move to Real Madrid nothing but a memory, instead of a loss. As things seem to be going on the up swing for Keylor, the same can’t be said of Real Madrid.

Considering their arch Rival Barcelona had lost 2-1 to Sevilla this was their opportunity to gain points and a lead in La Liga. Instead, again, they settled for one point. In a league that doesn’t allow these two teams second chances when it comes to having one up on eachother this may come back to haunt them. But that may be the least of their worries.

Real Madrid just doesn’t look the same, like a typical Real Madrid team. For starters, they have struggled to find the back of the net, though the scoring chances are there. Either the team struggles to understand the new manager, Rafa Benitez’s tactics or they have a hard time working together as a unit. It may be this or that, but this Real Madrid looks lifeless and has a very long season ahead of them if they continue to play like this.
