U.S. back on track

A strong finish to a friendly in Washington, DC for the USMNT. They had an up hill battle after going down 1-0 in the first half against Peru. But as is becoming accustomed in the last versions of the U.S. team, they came back in the second half and won in the last minutes of the game.

Resiliance is a word that could be used for the U.S. team in this game, and none was more resiliant that Jozy Altidore. After weeks of critisizm from his lack of goals, fitness, and general drive on national and club team, the real Jozy came out to play. The U.S. captain scored two goals including the game winner, putting the team on his back, and proving that he is ready to wear that captains arm band.

This victory comes against a Peru team that looked great in Copa America against tough oppenents, that showed off a front three that many in the world would envy. But the U.S. held their ground and looked resourceful when it mattered, and at the end of the day the goals that crossed the line counted more than ball possesion and the U.S. had one more than Peru.
